Harv's Code Page


First you must find the codes. This is very easy. Just turn your car off. Start with the key in the off position. Turn the iginition key to the on and off positions (do not turn the key to the start position) within 5 seconds using this sequence: ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON. Count the # of flashes between the pauses. For example for a code 12 you will get Flash Pause Flash Flash or for 55 you will get Flash Flash Flash Flash Flash Pause Flash Flash Flash Flash Flash.

Here are the codes for the 1984-1993 Chrysler Engine Control Unit.
Note these are for my car, which is a 1990 Lebaron 3.0L V6 as described in the Chilton's Repair Manual.

No Referance Signal During Cranking(No camshaft position sensor signal detected during engine cranking)

Power has been disconnected(will go away in 15 start stop cycles)

No change in MAP-Manifold Absolute Pressure from start to run(No differance recognized between the engine MAP reading and the barometric pressure reading at start-up)

MAP voltage to low or high(MAP sensor input below minimum or above maximum acceptable voltage)

No vehicle speed signal(No vehicle distance sensor signal detected during road load conditions)

Loss of Battery voltage While Running

Engine is cold too long(Engine coolant temp. remains below normal operating temp. during vehicle travel[bad thermostat])

O2 signal stays at center(Neither rich or lean condition detected from the oxygen sensor input) or O2 signal shorted to voltage(O2 sensor input voltage maintained above the normal operating range)

Coolant Sensor voltage to low or high(Coolant temp. sensor input above the maximum or below the minimum acceptable voltage)
